Last week’s semi-obscure 1970s album quiz threw up a diverse range of scores – Rich Kamerman top-scored with 36/40.
This week you need to name any track off of an acclaimed album. Even if you don’t know any songs, a lot of these records feature a title track.

I scored 20/20 with 6:18 remaining. Can you beat my time?
Here’s a bonus quiz if you have a spare fifteen minutes and are happy to handle a quiz with a different format. It’s hilarious – it’s a 1990s Cluedo music quiz where the weapons include Jewel’s hands and a wet sprocket:

I completed it, but I had to resort to Googling 3 song lyrics, all near the end. Can you complete the quiz with less lifelines?

Couldn’t beat your time. Although technically I only got 19/20, I kept typing in the Miles Davis title track but it wasn’t accepted. Not sure what I did wrong. So I’ll let you decide if I get credit for a perfect score this week. I still can’t believe I came out on top last week. Hooray for the old man (who just turned 56 two weeks ago). I’m gonna skip the bonus quiz. Oh, and that Liberace clip last week was a blast.
Happy belated birthday!
There are two tracks on that Miles Davis record with the word “blue” in them, but no actual title track.
You’re right. I know that album pretty well and should have remembered at least a couple of track titles.
I tried the title first too, but then went with the opening track (which is a nice, fast one to type).
My brain just couldn’t come up with song titles, including that short opening track. The one with initials F.F. is another one I should have remembered.
I got 19/20. It was really easy up until the end. It’s weird that I missed Miles Davis because last week I got him right just by guessing, but I didn’t know the names of any songs on this album or even which album it was.
I don’t know a lot of jazz, but that album is kind of the classic if you own one jazz album, it’s that one.
The second Quiz was hard. I got up to 109. But then when it asked who did the song Lovefool I put Cardigans, but it said it was incorrect. But I think it’s correct. Ain’t it? And then I didn’t know how to go any further. It just ended.
It’s definitely the Cardigans. Did you spell it right?
Yeah I spelled Cardigans right and I even tried it with the The and without the The. ha ha. That was a good quiz. I’m going to look for more like that and see if I can get good at them. I found it really difficult to remember the clues they gave. Clue was my favorite game in the whole world. I even loved the Clue movie. Especially Madeline Kahn as Mrs. White. Did you see that movie? Hilarious.
Got all 20, but with 6:04 remaining on the clock! That Chuck Berry one caught me off guard, had to guess the track because another famous band had done a cover of it. Turned out it was right.
Good work! That’s the fastest time so far I think?
20/20 4:10 left. While i recognized the banana album, I don’t have it or know its songs. So I guessed two or three of the writer’s songs till I got it. It’s also on Rock and Roll Animal. And there is a song it did not take that I’m pretty sure was on the U2 album. I kept trying the shortest possible songs. How you did it with six minutes left is beyond me.
Good work! That U2 album has some very long titles among its most famous songs.
This is one of the longest (and best) song titles I’m aware of.

We have the longest place name in the world here in NZ – Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauo tamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronuku pokaiwhenuakitanatahu.
Nice. Very romantic.
Oh, and I tried the bonus question. But once it hit something that Lisa Loeb said in a song I knew I was doomed and gave up.
I didn’t recognize four of them, and couldn’t name any songs from another two, so gave up. But what I want to know, Graham, is how you could guess them all with 6:18 remaining when you don’t know any songs by the O’Jays (based on your comment on one of Christian’s posts)? I’m too old, stupid and slow on the keyboard to even try the second quiz.
There’s no O’Jays’ album on there? Stevie Wonder has an R&B album from the same era on that list.
No, I’m referring to a post of Christian’s where he included an O’Jays song. You commented that you had not heard any of their music before.
What O’Jays album is on https://www.sporcle.com/games/Spacemaniac/name-any-song ?
None. I’m recalling your comment on a post by Christian’s Music Musings: https://christiansmusicmusings.wordpress.com/2022/06/08/if-i-could-only-take-one-15/
Or do you mean in general?
I didn’t live through the 1970s so I just know what was played on classic hits radio in NZ plus checking out critically acclaimed records. O’Jays don’t really fit into either of those piles.
I meant in general. My point was, how could you know songs on Miles Davis albums (admittedly, I’m not a huge jazz fan, so couldn’t name a single one of his tracks), as well as albums by Van Morrison and Chuck Berry, but not have heard any songs by the O’Jays? That’s all….
Because I’m more of an album listener than a radio/random songs on Spotify listener. So it means I have a shelf full of Van Morrison albums and know hundreds of songs, but miss out on some other things entirely. There’s a ton of popular music out there at this point and everyone has some holes in their knowledge. Not my fault that radio programmers don’t play the O’Jays.
We hereby insist on an explanation as to why you cannot name 10 O’Jays songs!
🖕
I get them mixed up with the Ohio Players, which doesn’t help – they both start with O.
You’re right. Each of us likes what we like, and listen to what interests us. I didn’t mean to make such a big deal about this.
I don’t know if they play the O’Jays anymore on classic hits radio, but they were pretty critically acclaimed as the best of the Philadelphia Sound records. Maybe those records just weren’t played where you live, but they were really popular over here in the early ’70s. Lots of big hits.
SCORE

That was fun.
I tried the second one and I had around 230 but the page froze up…I just didn’t have the heart to start over again…I had to google on that one lol.
Stink – sounds like you were close to the end on that bonus one. Good time on the main one though.
That second one was a lot of fun and it sucked that happened…I did feel bad using google but there was no other way.
BTW… I’m taking some time off Monday until probably the next Monday for music posts….the TV draft will be running though.
Enjoy your break!
11/20 with 4:52 on my second try. The first try I had 9/20 with less than 2 minutes left. I re-did it because I knew some of the answers were right yet they didn’t “take.” Some of them demanded the year of the album or they wouldn’t record (Rumours and Led Zeppelin) and so I still didn’t get them right because I didn’t pay attention to the year they were released. This quiz was a dud but still fun to play.
Weird – I don’t remember the year thing. Good work on the 11/20.
Thanks, Graham!
I only got 5/20. I knew some of the covers, but I couldn’t think of any songs from those albums. Thanks for the quiz, though!
Thanks for playing!
Of course! I had fun!
I’m coffee’d up to the point of twitching so hit a 20/20 with 5:58 left on the clock (it helps that I bought Kind of Blue recently).
Loved the cluedo game and finished that – resorting to one lyric check on google – with a few minutes change
Great work – sounds like you aced both quizzes.
20/20 with 4:27 remaining. Fun.
Great work.
