Music Quiz: Songs with Parentheses

Congratulations to Rich Kamerman, who scored the fastest time in last week’s quiz, narrowly beating Max.

This week, regular reader KingClover has supplied a quiz for our enjoyment. You need to match the parts of song titles, including parentheses.

I scored full marks with 3:00 (exactly half of the available time) remaining. Can you beat my time?

I love this 1991 live version of ‘Rosanna’ from Toto – it’s one of Jeff Porcaro’s last dates with the group. Steve Lukather is on lead vocals, although the backing vocalist who does the high parts is great too, while David Paich and Mike Porcaro are on keys and bass.

  1. 35/35 with 2:07 left on the clock. It was a very easy quiz except for the fact that the answers weren’t in alphabetical order.
I love that Toto concert. They were all but forgotten here in the US by then but they’ve always been great.

  2. As to the live version, I love ‘Rosanna’ but as soon as the crowd starting singing it ruined it for me so I bailed out. God, I hate that.

  3. That was a pretty lively version of Rosanna. Except they left out the best part, the horns!! That was my favorite part of the whole record. He played that part on guitar instead which still sounded pretty good though. I like Hold the
Line and Georgie Porgy better though. I always liked rock bands with horn sections that aren’t jazzy. Toto didn’t come close to Chicago though. I love early Chicago, or at least the good songs. They were really exciting when they were on.

    • It’s probably expensive to bring a horn section on tour…. I don’t think Toto had enough great moments, but they were great when they were on. Chicago certainly have a deeper catalogue.

00:00 I ran out of time…I even used my search function in my browser for words to make them easier to find…still ran out of time.

  5. Great live version of “Rosanna.” I like Steve Lukather but that second vocalist singing the high parts to me steels the show.

I’ve had a pretty intense work day, so I’m not going to subject myself to the quiz. Usually, I suck at these quizzes anyway! 🙂

    • Yup that high vocalist is great. Just before that, they had a South African named Jean-Michel Byron singing lead. He was terrible (IMO).
