1. I joined you in the 14/20 club this week. So close to getting the Macarena guys. Well, I had the “Los” part but that was as far as I got. Does that mean I actually scored 14-1/3? Probably not. Another fun quiz. Thanks for sharing.

   • Yeah, Macarena was the one I racked my brains and couldn’t get as well. 14 is the highest so far.

2. So pathetic I won’t even say. The response to my results said, “A perfectly cromulent score.” Interestingly, I knew 13 songs but I did not know who did the majority of them. Shame on me for not getting the ‘Tubthumping’ band. All I can say is you’re never gonna keep me down.

   • It’s OK, because I don’t even know what cromulent means. And Chrome spellcheck doesn’t recognise it.

     • It doesn’t appear to be complimentary.

       • Google wants to change it to corpulent, which isn’t a good sign.

3. 14/20 is impressive! I’m pretty sure I’d recognize most of the tunes from my school days but I wouldn’t be able to place the artist’s names aside from 2-3 on the list.

   • My 14 looks humble next to Tony’s 18.

4. Well, I got 9 of them. I recognised most of the song titles, though.
   But, Blind Melon’s on there! C’mon!

   • I think Blind Melon were probably a stronger album artist than most of the others.

     • Definitely, yeah – that tune isn’t even their best… and I’m pretty sure they had another that was fairly popular (?).

       • Is this the Bee Girl tune or was that another?

         • That’s the one, yeah.

   • And The Verve

     • Lots of the Urban Hymns songs got radio play in NZ.

       • There was definitely more to The Verve than just the one song. Unfortunately, that’s pretty much the only one that got play on commercial radio in North America.

         • We had Drugs Don’t Work, Sonnet, and Lucky Man. Never heard anything from their other records though.

         • We had Lucky Man and Sonnet on the alternative radio station. But that’s it. I remember seeing the video for Slide away on an alternative music video show.

     • Yeah – that’s ludicrous. That’s not even the tune radio here plays most often! It’s usually Lucky Man or Drugs Don’t Work.

       • I’ve always loved The drugs don’t work but never heard it on the radio. Amazing the differences of radio playlists worldwide.

5. Whoomp… 18/20. Never heard of Tootsee Roll or a Cataloop Flip but this was right up my pub quiz alley!

   • Wow that’s a tough benchmark score – I don’t know those two names either.

     • 17 – I’m with Tony & I could sing along with Walking in Memphis but the name of the singer escaped me!

6. OK I knew my time at the top would most likely be short lived, but talk about a fall off the cliff avalanche – 4 of 20 – hey I could hum most of the tunes! But getting the old memory to gear up for songs 30 years ago was just too much today. I’d say I recognized about 7 additional artists and the others – that’s why they were one hit wonders, I guess. And of course now I have I’m Too Sexy, Macarena, and Mambo #5 running through my brain, so thanks for that!

   • You’ll have a little bit of Mary running through your head all night long.

   I got the “walking” one in the last few seconds…the guy just popped in my head. I got more than I thought I would. I always liked Lullaby…

   • I listened to that song recently, which is why I knew it.

8. 17/20. But only because I inexplicably have a lot of 90s compilations in my music library.

   • And that’s a great score!

    • 12 is a solid score for that quiz – it was tough.
