Music Quiz: Live Albums

Congratulations to James, from KeepsMeAlive, who scored the fastest time in last week’s 5 Letter Words in 1990s Songs quiz

This week your challenge is to match the live album to the artist.

I got down to a 50/50 guess at the end but I was fortunately correct, so I scored 15/15 with 3:07 remaining. Can you beat my time?

I was surprised to find that my 8-year-old’s library book, Pizza and Taco Rock Out, had a few neat musical references. They dropped some shoutouts to Nirvana and KISS, but my favourite reference was in their logo – they decided to call their band “Awesome Yass”.

  1. 15/15 That was easy as pie. Piece of cake. I forgot to look at the time though, but I think it was pretty fast.

  2. Dang, I really shouldn’t do these quizzes while I’m listening to music. This was an easy one for me (I own 13 of these albums) but a silly mistake on an album & artist I know well left me with a score of 14/15. I think I would have matched your time otherwise. Cool kid’s book, especially that logo.

    • I think I’ve only owned about 1/3 of them. They didn’t include the last live album I reviewed – Gotta Let This Hen Out! Great title, but a bit niche I guess.

  3. 15/15, 2:43 remaining so not fastest time. It was only through judicious guessing that I got the last four. And the album they call “At the Fillmore East,” is actually called “At Fillmore East.”

    • Good work! I once listened to At Fillmore East on repeat during an afternoon of asbestos removal.

      • Really? Given your relative lack of blues desire I didn’t have you marked as being anywhere close to an Allmans listener. What’s your opinion of that album?

        • I haven’t listened for a while but I like it. They’re not quite a straight blues band in my books, and Duane Allman is one of my favourite guitarists.

          • Well, you’re full of surprises. I must have written about ABB a hundred times but I don’t recall any comments from your end. You’re right in that they are not a straight blues band but some of those tunes are either derived from old blues tunes or, like “Stormy Monday,” are straight-up blues. As to Duane, well, he’s my favorite (along with Clapton) so that’s good to hear. I may resurrect an old post around this topic.

          • Allman had a pretty short recording career, but he has all these cool cameos, like with Laura Nyro or Aretha Franklin.

  4. SCORE
    15/15
    TIMER
02:00 That was pretty easy except the two (IM and the Ram) I had left…I guessed between them and got em.
