1. Only 9/12. Apparently, my Who knowledge is lacking.

   • Mine wasn’t perfect either.

2. 6/12 with 1 minute left. I should have stopped guessing and used the process of elimination.

   • Yup, cycling through and picking up the easy ones is always a good strategy.

3. 12/12 with 1:58 left….but then I’m a Who super fan so I’d have been pissed had I missed any!

   • They’re one of the biggest 1960s bands I haven’t written about yet. For me, Who’s Next towers over everything else, but I probably need to give some of their other stuff more chance. Good work on the perfect score.

     • Who’s Next towers over everything else in terms of radio play. Don’t get me wrong – it’s a great album. But Live at Leeds, Tommy, Quadrophenia – all really good.

       • I think the bigger production sounds that came in around 1969 or 1970 really helps Who’s Next – their 1960s stuff just doesn’t sound as big.

         • Well, sure, but that’s true across the board for recorded music in general.

         • I think it’s pronounced with The Who, who had significant work either side of the shift. The Stones as well.

4. A very easy one for this long-time Who fan. 12/12 with 2:16 left on the clock.

   • I figured half of the people who follow this blog would score perfect marks.

6. 10/12. I think I knew them all but I totally blew it by confusing the bus and the phone.

   • I had you down for a 12…. I had trouble with the jack.

     • The ‘mobile’ thing got me. We typically refer to it as a cell phone here.

7. 12/12 w/ 2:35 – I really like the Who w/ Quadrophenia being my favourite of theirs as it is ambitious and shows the band at its peak more than in Who’s Next and more grounded than Tommy, I can forgive Townshend for the declining quality of material afterwards as he did put a massive effort into Quadrophenia.

   • I got 36 in your quiz. A bit of guessing at the end.

     I reckon that quiz is really good. I’d recommend looking at the ones that noone’s getting right and replacing them with more famous songs, even if they’re things outside your usual listening zone. I knew the least-guessed (South Carolina), but misclicked North Carolina. I wonder if the Frank Zappa song about Montana would be easier: “Movin’ to Montana soon/Gonna be a Dental Floss tycoon”

     • Thanks for trying the quiz Graham. The problem with the harder ones is there is precious little out there that mentions Vermont or Connecticut, for example, but I will try and find some easier ones.

       I’m not sure Frank Zappa wold be better known than Marie Osmond. I suspect the latter’s song is more well known, across the board.

     • I’ve changed a few but it probably doesn’t make it any easier!

       • No, don’t feature it because some of your more, shall we say, critical readers will find fault with it, as they did when you kindly mentioned my Christmas quiz!

9. 11/12 – not that into the Who but knew a few but turns out there’s no such song as ‘Another Tricky iPhone’

   • I do not know ‘Another Tricky Day’. Looks like it’s from 1981.

12. 6/12. If it weren’t for some really good guesses, I’d be saying 2/12.

    • Not big on The Who? I think they’re my least favourite of the big 1960s British bands – I’m more a Kinks and Beatles fan – but they still have some very good stuff.

      • Never really enjoyed them, no. Some good singles, but beyond that they don’t do much for me.

13. I got a perfect score, but that’s because I’m a huge Who fan, hence my pen last name, Moon!

14. I’m not a big Who fan, I like the Who, I have a bunch of albums, but not enough to know these songs. 8/12 for me.
