I found this much harder than the first set. I scored 15/19, and missed the country ones.
Congratulations to Rich Kamerman, who scored the fastest 19/19 last week.
We recently had a rollout of New Zealand’s best 100 songs, run by our state broadcaster. Here’s the winner, a fascinating blend of 1980s sounds and Māori tradition.

Somehow I made it to 19/19 this week – just about – with 1:04 left on the ticker
You did number II, right? I got a bit tangled and updated the old one rather than publishing a new one. This is #2: https://www.sporcle.com/games/g/lyrictitleii
Not sure how I had the fastest time last week. I guess a few people forgot to do the quiz. I stumbled a bit this week, with just 16/19.
This week was definitely a bit harder.
12/19 ran out of time. couldn’t remember the name of rick james tune.
I missed the Rick James one too – I just never hear that song anywhere, so I don’t really know it. It’s fun how he was in a band with Neil Young in the 1960s though.
Dang it, I forgot the name of the song again although I am very familiar with it. Fun times when it was on the radio. Wow that is so unexpected to hear that he and NY were in a band together. Do you know the name of the band?
The Mynah Birds! Just recorded a few singles. There’s an interesting story on the Mynah Birds wiki about how Levon Helm and Garth Hudson rescued him from being beaten up.
Ha ha on them getting rescued. I can see Levon being a shit kicker but not Garth. Maybe with enough whisky? 😉
Yeah, wouldn’t want to get in a fight with Levon, Garth just looks cuddly.
🙂
I like NZ #1 song. It feels happy.
It was born out of tragedy too – from memory, the town’s freezing works closed, leaving it with not much.
Sorry to hear that. Not sure what a freezing works is?
It’s where animals are slaughtered and meat is processed.
oh ok thanks!
19/19 with 4:51 to spare
Great job!
Thanks!
13/19…. Some were quite hard!
Great job – was much harder than last week for me too.
Score
18/19 I was stuck on one…
You beat me comfortably!
