Music Quiz: Albums from Two Decades

Congratulations to 2loud2oldmusic, who pipped Tony by less than 10 seconds for the fastest time in the First 3 Songs quiz.

This week’s quiz is more time-consuming than most – I recommend setting a few minutes aside for it if you want to play.

I scored 38/40. I struggled with Eminem in the 1990s and Coldplay in the 2010s.

In other news, as I noted back in 2018, I’ve spent the last 4.5 years working part-time and acting as the primary caregiver for my two children. A couple of months ago I lost my part-time job (because the company closed down, not because I was fired for ineptitude!). I was offered a full-time role this week – it might have helped that one of the interviewers was a Scott Walker fan. I’m unsure how much this will slow down this website’s output since I’ll be sitting on a computer doing similar-ish work for 37.5 hours each week, but we’ll see. I’m sure quizzes will keep going since they’re easy to post, but other content like New Music Reviews and listicles can be quite time-consuming.

  1. 25/40, Not that it matters but I should have one more. It wouldn’t accept one of my Guns “N Roses responses. No clue on Coldplay and strangely enough, “I’m a complete and total idiot” wasn’t a choice for Kanye West.

  2. 24/40. I would have had one on Eminem but forgot “LP”. No clue on a few of them. Congratulations on being hired full-time. Hoping that’s what you wanted. Glad you will keep doing the quiz.

    • Quizzes are very quick to do, so that shouldn’t be a problem.

It’s weird going to work after 4.5 years of working part-time from home and 20 years in the same place. Funnily, I’m working at the college I went to in my late teens/early twenties, so it will be pretty familiar.

  3. 37/40 Had no idea of the names of any albums by Pink Floyd from the 60s, nor Red Hot Chili Peppers from the 80s. And couldn’t remember the name of the Elton John album from the 80s in my own collection!

  4. 39 – had no memory of any of Sir Reginald Kenneth Dwight’s 80s album titles. Congrats on the new full time position, you never know when it might pay off being a Scott Walker fan!

    • Great score! I’ve never really ventured into Elton John’s 1980s albums, but obviously some great songs in there like ‘I’m Still Standing’ and ‘Empty Garden’.

  5. 39/40 with 1:43 left. I thought it was gonna be so hard but it was fucking easy. The only one I missed was Kanye cuz I couldn’t think of anything except those college ones. And I almost missed Queen believe it or not cuz I couldn’t think of an 80s album, then at the last minute I thought of one. Coldplay took a long time too.

  6. SCORE
38/40…. the E rapper I just happened to remember 1 so I lucked out on that one. The funny thing is I got KW right! I think I remember one of the titles from your site.
Merry Christmas Graham to you and your family
