1. I turned 6 years old in 1972 so I remember hearing a lot of these songs (good and bad) on the radio back then and many times since then. That explains my score of 22/22 with 1:32 left on the clock. I expect at least a few others to do it more quickly but I’m happy with my performance. As for Low, they’ve slipped under my radar but I know they’re highly regarded, so I will check them out soon.

   • Low can be a bit samey and low-key for me to listen to a lot at once, but they have a unique intimate vibe.

2. I figured Rich would be my only competition. Got ’em all. Easy-peasy. 1:40 left. Don’t know if that will be the fastest but there it is. And yeah, there’s some real cheese on there. (When did “Sometimes When We Touch” come out again?)

   • Nice work, Jim. I bow before your lightning-fast performance.

     • It comes and goes. I once did an ask me anything and I was flying. But sometimes I watch Jeopardy and I cannot get that bit of information out of my mouth fast enough. But 1972? Sweet spot year for me. It might just as well have been yesterday

       • I almost made it onto a NZ gameshow, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire once? I got a bit tongue-tied at the final interview.

         • I’ve been trying to get on Jeopardy for 30 years. Do you have that show?

         • I think the US version used to be shown here, but we’ve never had our own version. There are less gameshows than there used to be, and more reality shows – not very keen on the latter.

     • We both got clobbered by Eclectic Music Lover.

       • He’s very strong on anything that’s made the charts.

         • Oh, a chart guy, eh? I’m pretty good on that too. But since I’m ancient, the synapses don’t fire as quickly as they once did.

         • I’m pretty much at the mercy of what radio programmers playing on vintage pop radio when I was growing up.

   • Sometimes When We Touch was about 1978 I think – it would fitted into 1972 better (but still sucked).

     • My personal whipping boy and choice for Worst Song of All Time.

   01:27 this one was in my wheelhouse…not as quick as the rest but I got them. Of all the great songs Chuck did…

   That is sad…I don’t know much about them but that song sounds wonderful.

4. 22/22 with 1:47 to spare. I was in my teens in 1972 and vividly remember all those songs. I closely followed the charts too, so this was a no-brainer for me.

   • Yup, you always do consistently brilliantly at the hit-centric quizzes. Could you do as well at a 2022 one, do you reckon?

     • Probably not, as I pay scant attention to many of the songs on today’s pop charts, especially the ones by hip hop, rap or bro-country artists.

6. I ran out of time and was barely 1/2 way though. I was being too careful and didn’t watch the clock.

7. Nope. 10/22. These were the ones I knew for sure. My guessing game was pitiful this morning.

   • You should maybe be glad you don’t know some of the cheesier ones…

     • There was actually only two that I think are bad songs and unfortunately those just happened to be the very worst songs by two otherwise fantastic artists, Three Dog Night and Chuck Berry. Otherwise I love everything there especially Michael Jackson’s greatest record. Seriously!! Ben is his greatest song.

8. 21/22 with 1:08 left. I picked the wrong Neil on Heart of Gold by mistake. They had them side by side and I was rushing!

   • Trying to imagine Mr Young singing ‘Song Sung Blue’. But I’m failing.
