Music Decades Quiz: Week 2, 2010s

1. Although I probably only know about 10 of those songs (or heard them vaguely in the background at the gym), I somehow managed to score 25/25 this week with some educated guesses. I even left 54 seconds on the clock. I figured this would be my toughest decade so feeling very confident right now…but not cocky. Now I’m looking forward to a decade that doesn’t have “bling” in the song titles.

   • I think there was room to do well this week with good grammatical guesses. Good effort though.

2. 25/25. Like Rich, I never heard of many of them. But I got the ones I knew and the rest, quite frankly, were just good grammatical guesses. Only so many on the right fit so many on the left. I also thought I’d be screwed in this decade, totally screwed. 48 seconds left.

   • Nice job, Jim. But 48 seconds left? Amateur. Hahaha.

     • Heh! It was an off day. 🙂 I can’t even believe I got ANYTHING in that decade.

       • That’s how I felt. I figured I might get 8-10 songs from this decade. If the format had been the same as last week my score would be much lower, so thanks to Graham for choosing this format.

         • I think we’ll need a hard 2000s one for fairness.

         • That seems fair. Bring it on.

3. Uh-oh! Note to self – find out who the hell was popular in the 2000s.

4. Eh… 14. I was honestly scratching my head after 10.

   • I went through a phase when every time I brushed my hair, lots of hair would come out due to male pattern baldness. That’s when I stopped scratching my head.

     • I may not have done too well in the quiz, but at least now I know not to scratch my head or brushing my hair!

5. 21/25. Was honestly guessing about halfway through. I’m sure I’ve never heard most of those songs.

   • That’s a solid 84% without knowing many of the songs.

6. 25! Though like some others, i only knew about half, the rest seemed like logical titles

   • Yes, seems like it was a bit of a logic test this week.

7. 25/25 with 2mins and a second on the clock and I haven’t had my morning coffee yet. Good to see Springsteen’s 2012 album on there….

   • Great score. Can’t tell from the internet if you’re being ironic or not, but I assume the Wrecking Ball in question is Miley Cyrus’.

     • Yeah. I only know it thanks to the memes

8. Knowing two songs, a score of 20 is much above expectations. Shame not all of them were in English.

    • Great effort! You didn’t register a score last week, right?

11. “And rearrange your liver to the solid mental grace.” I had to look that one up. It’s from “Close to the Edge!” Love that tune but I guess I never picked up on that line. Makes as much sense as any of their other lyrics I guess. That said, if it had been me I might have said: “Pump your chest up to the furthest regions of the universe.”

12. 21 of 25 -knew more than I thought I would and like you said was able to reasonably guess on a number of them.

13. Surprisingly I got 100% with 2 minutes and 17 seconds remaining and I don’t know that much about today’s music. Some of these were common sense guesses.

    • Great effort – I think that quiz was a bit easy! I tried the 2010s version of the quiz series I’ve used for the 1960s and 2000s, and found it very tough.
