Music Quiz: Album by First 3 Songs X

Congratulations to EclecticMusicLover, who scored a perfect 20/20 in last week’s quiz.

I found this week’s quiz tough – it’s the last one in the series, and they may have been running out of recognisable acts. I’ve only heard six of these twenty albums.

I scored 15/20, with a fair bit of guessing.

If you want to hear me talk about Carly Rae Jepsen’s Emotion for half-an-hour, you can listen to me here – https://1001albumsin10years.wordpress.com/2023/04/23/s1e26-graham-fyfe-carly-rae-jepsen-emotion-the1002ndalbum-podcast

If you caught my 8-year-old daughter’s Parry Gripp post the other day, you’ll be happy to hear that she received a personal reply from Mr Gripp on Twitter. It was very cool of him.

  1. Just listened to the podcast and have added Carly to my WMM list for future featuring. Congrats to your daughter in getting a reply to her post.

  2. I caught your spot on 1002nd album earlier in the week (I’ve been following it since Jim’s take on Scott Weiland’s 12 Bar Blues) and thoroughly enjoyed it.
As for the quiz… I’ve got pure caffeine running through my veins this morning and managed 19/20 with 3:45 left on the timer

  3. Yes, exactly that. As Paul Simon said “I know what I know…”.

The problem is with some of these quizzes is that I can’t make an educated guess as I could on, say, a general knowledge quiz, because I have not even a rudimentary knowledge of the artists concerned. I really don’t know who a lot of them are. I do know every capital city in the world, however!

Nice to hear you speak on your podcast, Graham, by the way. Unfortunately I wasn’t interested in the music you were discussing so I turned you off!

I attempted some of your piano playing quizzes on Sporcle too. Didn’t do very well, nothing to do with your playing, though.
