Music Quiz: Best New Artist Grammy by Song

We had a tie last week in the White Album quiz – congratulations to Jim and Max, who tied with a time of 3:10.

I’m not sure if we’ll have any 100% scores this week, but I’m happy to be proven wrong. You need to match the artist to their song – all 40 on the list are Best New Artist Grammy winners.

I don’t put a whole lot of stock in the Grammys – it always feels like a compromise between commercial success and artistic merit. This list makes for a fascinating quiz though – it’s a scattershot selection of all-time greats, those with middling careers, and one-hit wonders. I scored 36/40 – can you beat me?

I’ve had some offers of articles for my site lately – I obviously have a full schedule already, between quizzes, Nuggets, and ranking Hold Steady albums. If anyone else is interested, I’m just leaving it here.

Hi, It’s essential to have a space that can be used for both living and running a business when starting a business from home. If you’re interested in receiving a guest article from me, I’d be happy to write one of how to start a business while also moving if the space in your current home isn’t adequate for both living and working. The article will include tips for home buying, moving and what it takes to launch a home-based business. It will also feature tips on working with a realtor (your services will be promoted), as well as getting a custom-built home if you can’t find the right home to fit your needs. Would you be interested in posting the article on your website? It’s totally free! Cheers! Erin

  1. whew….not so good. Every song I had left over was from the 2000’s… SCORE
    26/40
    TIMER
    00:00
    Yay on last week!

  2. 23/40. I was going good till I wasn’t. As to that whole home buying thing, I don’t see how you can pass it up. Why, I’d go for it myself if I weren’t busy blogging, playing guitar, sorting my socks and other things.

  3. BTW, you’re not the only one who gets cool offers. I got this just today:

Here’s a way to create INSTANT engagement that you may not have known about…

Talk With Web Visitor is a software widget that’s works on your site, ready to capture any visitor’s Name, Email address and Phone Number. It lets you know INSTANTLY that they’re interested – so that you can talk to that lead while they’re literally checking out musicenthusiast.net.

CLICK HERE to try out a Live Demo with Talk With Web Visitor now to see exactly how it works.

It could be a game-changer for your business – and it gets even better… once you’ve captured their phone number, with our new SMS Text With Lead feature, you can automatically start a text (SMS) conversation – immediately (and there’s literally a 100X difference between contacting someone within 5 minutes versus 30 minutes.)

  4. 26 of 40 this week – if I had a couple more minutes I would have gotten – 26 of 40. But I’m proud I got the same score as Max this week! For some reason on my laptop I can’ get the like function to load on your site nor leave comments within the comment thread but really enjoyed your thread with ME re: the spam emails you receie.

    • The curse is mostly a thing in the late 1970s and early 1980s I think – you get A Taste of Honey, Starland Vocal Band, Debby Boone, Men at Work.

      • On a related note – saw the list of new nominees for this years – are you familiar with most of them. Im not at all which I’m not sure how I feel about it

        • I only really know 4 of them – I really like some songs off Olivia Rodrigo’s debut, Finneas is best-known for his work with his sister Billie Eilish. Arlo Parks is a pretty well reviewed artist I’ve been meaning to check out, and Japanese Breakfast is a very good indie guitar artist who’s been round for a while now. Seems pretty comparable to other years – just more nominees than there were before 2019.
