Does anyone else really like this song by 18-year-old Disney starlet Olivia Rodrigo? Kind of has angsty guitar-rock vibes like Alanis Morrissette’s ‘You Oughta Know’ or Avril Lavigne’s ‘Sk8r Boi’.

Oof, so close once again, but was stumped by Starship. 19/20 for me. These are a lot of fun.
The Starship one did make me rack my brains for a wee bit. I used to think the lyrics were “We built this city on rocky road”.
Same score as Rich. I got Starship but blew it on – of all people – Springsteen.
It’s not one of my favourite Springsteen numbers.
I like it but no, it’s not top of my list.
It’s my favorite Springsteen song by far. I’ve found you rarely, if ever, like the biggest or most popular songs by artists or bands, Graham.
I think the hardcore Springsteen fan choice is usually ‘Thunder Road’.

There are so many to pick from…I have a soft spot for his debut album.
Yeah I think my favorite off that one is Lost in the Flood. We used to crank it up in college after a calculus or organic chemistry exam – many times it was a fitting feeling!

18 of 20 – I eventually got the Bruce one but it was embarrassing since spent way too much time on it – I think the ballerina’s threw me off; also screwed up the U2 as didn’t pay attention to the year and went with the Two Hearts. But hey, woohoo I finally won one from last week – my life is complete! 🙂
It was the wrong decade for Abba’s ‘Nina Pretty Ballerina’ or The Left Banke’s ‘Pretty Ballerina’.
Well I don’t know either – kept thinking of Elton John Tiny Dancer which really confused me 😀
And real hardcore Springsteen fans would probably pick Incident on 57th Street – at least I would. 🙂
Incident is my favourite too.
Sort of a precursor to Jungleland which is majestic in its own right but I’ve always had something special for Incident. I’ve seen Springsteen 20+ times and finally got to see him do it live in 2003 in Philly – a very magical night
Wild and Innocent is great, except I don’t really go for Wild Billy’s Circus Incident. Swap on The Fever and it would be like the best album ever made.

Yes I was a bit slow…Bruce’s song took me a while.
I totally missed them in the 80s…I had a co-worker to play me a few from them but that is all.

Why did U2 get lost?

I remember back in 1984 trying to convince a new girlfriend of the genius of Bruce Springsteen and how meaningful his songs were. The first song she ever heard of his was Dancing In The Dark on the radio before I had a chance to play her anything else. Argument lost. She said “I listened to it, I really tried, but I just don’t hear anything in it”. She was right, wasn’t she? I feel my beloved Bruce really let me down there.
In the meantime, to make it with her, so to speak, I had to pretend to like The Thompson Twins!
I would take Hold Me Now over Dancing in the Dark.
19/20 for me. And as far as Olive Rodrigo, the song is okay, but I am forced to listen to it just like I’ll be forced to listen to the album when it comes out. My girls love her!!! If I hear that Drivers License song again, I will scream!! It ain’t bad, just heard it a million times.
My six year old has it on her playlist – I don’t think the full album is appropriate for a 6 year old though. Lots of romantic angst and bad words – I assume your girls are a bit older.

The album’s out on Spotify in NZ already – she’s clearly going to be huge with teenagers, and like Billie Eilish she has some support among older listeners. She’s not cool and alternative like Eilish, but she has good tunes and a nice voice.

As for the Olive Rodrigo number, that’s the first time I’ve heard it and it’s a bit too Avril Lavigne for my liking.

Olivia has a good voice, hope to see her around more in the future. If you look at the song titles of her album, it is definitely going to be a ‘sour’ album indeed.
