Music Quiz: 3 Flops, 1 Act: 1980s

Congratulations to Rich Kamerman, who schooled the rest of us on famous drummers. Although Deke also scored a credible 27 out of 30.

This week, your challenge is to identify an act by three songs that failed to make the US top 40. Lots of great songs missed out.

I scored 36/37. I was lucky – I was down to educated guessing for the last 5 or 6.

Can you beat my score for the perfect 37 out of 37?

This new Waxahatchee song is a very early candidate for my favourite song of the year. MJ Lenderman’s creaky backing vocals are a great touch. Spencer Tweedy is on drums.

  1. My drumming background was no help for me this week. Only 32/37. I got 31 in a row with no problem and then…a bunch of bad guesses. Interesting how so many of those songs never cracked the Top 40.

    • Video was pretty funny. MJ Lenderman, who sings backup and plays guitar, has a song titled ‘You Have Bought Yourself A Boat’

    • Popular music is vast, the more you learn the more you realize there is to learn. I guess most things are like that.

  2. 27 – which, in last week’s quiz /30, would have been nothing at which to sneeze.
Though reading the comments this week, looks like I’m in excellent company with 27/37!
