The Beatles White Album

Music Quiz: Opening Lyrics of The White Album

Congratulations to Rich “Taxman” Kamerman, who squeaked out the fastest time in last weeks 1960s quiz. There were lots of contestants who were very close on his tail.

With apologies to younger readers, we’re staying in the 1960s for another week. This week you need to link the opening lines of the songs from the 1968 album The Beatles with their song titles.

I scored full marks with 1:58 remaining, although it did involve a handful of educated guesses at the end!

  1. I had to quit because it started acting up and then it just froze up completely. Too bad because I was doing good until it fucked up on me. That really pisses me off.

  2. Showing my abysmal knowledge of the Beatles, i got 15 – please don’t ban me, lol. I appreciate how great a band they are, and love alot of their songs, but am not on the level of knowledge of them as most other are on here. Now if you ever did this with a Springsteen album then we’d be talking. 🙂

    • I feel like I’d score like 5 on The River (double album for comparison) – never really got into it as much as most of Springsteen’s other 1970s and 1980s records.

    • Yup, I get worried about specific artist/album quizzes excluding some participants, but I assumed lots of people would go for this one.

    • I haven’t listened to the whole thing for years. It does help that you can generally tell a Lennon opening line from a McCartney one.

    • I’m not a White Album cultist – it’s my fifth favourite Beatles album at best. But it’s worth a listen sometime – it’s a bit like a bunch of solo albums stuck together as the cracks were starting to appear at that point.
