Can you link an image of a 1980s artist to an iconic hit?

I scored 21/25. I found it tougher than the previous editions, as I don’t know what Irene Cara and Richard Marx look like.

Congratulations to EclecticMusicLover, who again scored the fastest 25/25.

RIP to Beverley Martyn – she’s best known for the two albums she made with her husband at the turn of the 1970s.

      • The peculiar thing about the ‘80s is even though I generally prefer the ‘60s and the ‘70s, the ‘80s were the decade when I grew up and was heavily exposed to then-contemporary music through the radio, as well as parties that happened during my school years. As such, ironically, I oftentimes find I seem to be more familiar with ‘80s music than music from those other decades!

        • In my teens, in the 1990s, we often made fun of 1980s music – it sounded too slick and over processed. But now contemporary music has swung back in that direction, it sounds a lot more normal.

  1. Oh my. I love Beverley Martyn. She’s been quiet on her Facebook page for a while, so wondered if all was well with her. This is sad news. She could have had a great music career, but gave it up for John, who then abused her. R.I.P. Bev.

    • I read that Island pushed for John as a solo artist, rather than a duo. But she certainly got the short end of the deal – sounds like John had a lot of demons.

      • Yeah, he was alcoholic evidently, and the really vicious kind. I love those two albums they made, though, more than Martyn’s solo work…I’m probably in the minority there. And in the minority here, as I see none of the gamers reacted to your news of her death. ☹️

        • Yup, noone else has mentioned her. I have Martyn 1971-1980 albums on CD, but I never saw copies of the two albums with Beverly.

          • I bought my vinyl Stormbringer! from a used record store in the late ’80s, the only time I’ve seen it. I got Road to Ruin via mail order only a few years ago after years of searching.

    • Passing and coming back is a perfectly legal strategy. I think Googling for spelling is fine too.

  2. 25/25 with 4:11 left on the clock. I used the touchscreen on my work laptop which was much more efficient than a mouse or tracking pad. Will have to use that going forward.

    • I really dislike touch screens, as it gets messy. But probably a good strategy if you wash your hands first.
