Duke Ellington and Chaka Khan got me.
Good effort. I found Duke Ellington OK – I found the song titles from the older generation easy to differentiate.
SM I should have known was Duke
I was doing well…until I stopped doing well. Ended up with 24/28. I forgot at one point that it was about the artist associated with the song, so I chose Prince for a particular Chaka Khan hit that he wrote. Oh well.
Good effort! I did mention the Chaka Khan conundrum in my instructions.

This definitely wasn’t my quiz. I gave up after I saw Carole King AND Duke Ellington. There was no process of elimination here,

22 of 28 – my lack of knowledge of several of these artists made me end up guessing with predictable results. Nailed all the Prince ones though.
I was expecting my readership to nail Queen and Prince.

17/28 – didn’t know the Duke Ellington or Chaka Khan songs
I don’t really know Chaka Khan either (except I Feel For You), but I found it easy to spot the Duke Ellington songs. Does it sound like a swing song?
Re: Jason Isbell song, I fell like a number of artists I admire have decided that its time to start speaking out about the political situation in US. Just listened to the new Drive By Truckers album, and the Avett Brothers album from last year was much more political than what they’ve done in the past.
The first single from Isbell’s last album was pointedly political too – ‘Hope The High Road’. Amanda Shires wore a “nasty woman” t-shirt in the music video.
Apparently Lucinda Williams has a new song named Man Without A Soul.

I scored 24. Turns out I know the names of very few Carole King tunes. Oh well.
Also, new Isbell tune is a good one. That’s another album to add to the list…
Yup, lots of stuff coming down the pipeline. I haven’t found a lot of 2020 stuff I want to cover yet, but I guess we’re not in peak release season yet.
There have been a few – but new Kanaan and The Third Mind album were the two that grabbed me so far. New Dulli album tomorrow, which I’ll be spending a lot of time with I think.
Soccer Mommy is the record I’m most excited about this month.
I didn’t even realise there was one out this month! I’ll check that out.
