Most contestants performed impressively in last week’s synonyms and antonyms quiz. The fastest time came from keepsmealive’s James Kalyn, who solved it in less than minute.
This week your challenge is to guess whether the listed bands are from the US or the UK.

From my perspective, I thought there were a bunch of easy ones but also a handful that were tough. I was wrong about Whitesnake and scored 29/30.
Can you beat me and score the perfect 30/30?

26/30. Not the best but I’ll take it.
You won last week, so it’s fine.
Looks like I’m the first one to respond this week, and the first with a perfect score of 30/30, with 3:37 left on the clock. I don’t expect that to be the fastest time, but I know I couldn’t have done it any more quickly. Aren’t you on vacation this week? If so, I hope you’re having a great time.
Great work. I actually started working full-time last week – I’ve been part time and primary caregiver for almost five years. I thought it might make this website tricky but it seems ok – I get to do some writing on the train, like I’m doing right now
28/30. Who could have guessed the Beatles were British???
The ones I had to think about or got wrong were mostly 1980s – wonder if there’s a cultural reason for that, or just that the 1980s choices were more obscure.
The 1980s are a blur.
25/30
Good work, thanks for playing!
Thanks, Graham, your weekly hosting of the quiz is appreciated 🙂
With Maiden on my reader I had to do this contest…30/30 with 3:39 left
Great work. The only Maiden post on my site, about ‘Total Eclipse’ gets a few hits from time to time. I keep meaning to do more, although I tend to listen to a lot of music when I’m working and gravitate towards more mellow stuff then.

03:02 I only guessed on two… M**e and was right. I definitely lean more British. But the only reason I got the Whitesnake right was because of what you said…I went against my instinct. I was surprised.
3:02 remaining? I was surprised to learn Whitesnake was UK – I think of them as hair metal, which seems like a US phenomenon.
My first thought was that but then I remembered he was the lead singer of Deep Purple…that is the main reason I switched.
Yes I think…I just copy and paste what is on.
30/30 in 3.56. Good fun!
Thanks for playing!
30/30 with 4:05 left. Perhaps one lucky guess.
Good effort!
28/30 with 4:01 left. Had no idea about a couple, and guessed wrong.
Good work anyway.
28/30. I got Iron Maiden wrong, but I always do bad on heavy metal. And I got Muse wrong too.
I guess 1980s metal came from both countries to some extent.
29/30. I got Slipknot wrong. I don’t even know who they are, let alone what nationality they are.
Good effort, I don’t know any Slipknot songs.
29/30 with 4:02 left. I made a couple good guesses and one wrong one on the Jam…oops.
The Jam were huge in one of those countries and obscure in the other.
Apparently not big in my country maybe.
Yup, they were huge in the UK. Amazingly young too – they wound up before Paul Weller turned 25. They sold out Wembley for a lot of nights on their farewell tour.
28 – I too have to brush up on my Whitesnake geography, ditto Bananarama!
I thought they were the toughest two.
What makes it even more confusing is that besides Whitesnake there were also two more metal bands named after animals called White Lion and Great White. And I know that each of them had a hit but I never did know who did which one.
But is there a Great Lion?
25/30 with 3:28 left (83%)! Out of all the bands I got wrong, Muse surprised me the most!
Great work!
Thanks so much and thanks for the quiz!
