Congratulations to Tony, who just pipped Rich Kamerman in last week’s famous lead singer quiz.
This week we have a Cat Stevens quiz. Often I try to avoid artist-specific quizzes, but Stevens’ early 1970s hits are pretty universal.

There were a few tricky ones in there, depending on your level of expertise. I scored 12/12 with 2:31 remaining but relied on the process of elimination at the end.
In other news, I was simultaneously disturbed and gratified reading an article about the music taste of our members of parliament. Chris Bishop is already a leading figure in New Zealand’s centre-right-wing party, but his running playlist is surprisingly good and shows some musical knowledge. It includes three Sugar songs (including a non-album b-side), Pearl Jam oddities, two tracks from the upcoming Beths album, and The 1975. I guess it’s not surprising we have some crossover given that we are a similar age.

I got 12/12, with 2:22 remaining. I didn’t know a few of them, but like you, solved it through the process of elimination.
Great work!
10/12. The Mona Lisa tune was beyond me. As to politician’s playlists, well they ARE politicians. Obama always release his. And while he’s a cool enough dude to actually listen to this stuff, it feels carefully curated to get a little rock, a little bit of soul, etc. in there. I mean, does he really like “Tumbling Dice?”

The Mona Lisa tune is one of my favourite from him – it’s kind of baroque and enigmatic. “If she really wants me to help her/I’ll do what I can to show her the way”
And I like Obama’s playlists – I haven’t seen one for a while. I guess it’s plausible that he listens to a bunch of playlists from other people and just clicks like on the ones he enjoys. Or he has a PR person to do it for him.
Yeah, hard to say.
I did it in two seconds but I messed up by accidentally hitting the wrong button on one of them. I hate when that happens.
It’s OK to try again if you want.

Perfect score!
Probably the first time!
And how do you feel about Sad Lisa?
“Her eyes like windows, tricklin’ rain”
Cat is a great lyricist and if you read the lyrics as a poem, it works. The twist, which seems to suggest she’s a ghost, is a nice ending. If you look at it as a dynamic between 2 people, there is no way he can fix her, unless it is to be near her and to let her know he cares. I like the song, not my favorite but good. That’s probably way more info than you were looking for lol.
12/12 with 2:24 remaining. Very easy for this long-time Cat Stevens fan.
There was one that I didn’t know at all – I only really know 4-5 (depending if Harold and Maude counts) albums in the early 1970s and a greatest hits.

Good work anyway.
Don’t know Cat very well so no go for me.
Maybe you should add Tea for the Tillerman to your “What Should I Review This Month?” column. I predict that you’ll enjoy him more than Mr Beefheart.
Ha! Maybe some day. I have one more posted for September and then the format is changing a little bit as I am going only with what is in my collection.

TIMER02:12 Good one…some of them I had to think on.
Good effort. There was one I didn’t know at all.
12/12 with 1:57 left. I think I knew exactly half the tunes and guessed the rest. Not the quickest time but I like the result.
