1. As I usually do with these, I completely sucked and got a smashing 50%. Not surprisingly, I was particularly challenged with anything from the ’90s onward! 🙂

2. I only got 26. There was too many from the 2010s.

   • They couldn’t have anyone for 1990 because Milli Vanilli’s was taken back.

4. 23/40. I was going good till I wasn’t. As to that whole home buying thing, I don’t see how you can pass it up. Why, I’d go for it myself if I weren’t busy blogging, playing guitar, sorting my socks and other things.

   • You could blog about sorting your socks – that would free up time for home buying.

     • Or I could hire someone to blog about sorting my socks while I go on a home-buying spree.

6. Got off to a great start with about 30-31 correct, and then stumbled quickly. Ended up with 33/40. Needless to say it was the last decade or so that was my kryptonite.

   • You’ve got the highest score so far, although I think the format will favour the younger contestants this week.

9. 26 of 40 this week – if I had a couple more minutes I would have gotten – 26 of 40. But I’m proud I got the same score as Max this week! For some reason on my laptop I can’ get the like function to load on your site nor leave comments within the comment thread but really enjoyed your thread with ME re: the spam emails you receie.

   • Yup, I’m trying to figure out the Like button thing. Right now I have to choose between having my site 3x slower or having the like button not work.

     • Weird. When I read them on my phone though like button fine although don’t know if it shows up

       • It just got fixed – I needed support from the caching plug-in people.

10. Funny that that band called the Beatles got the nod in 64 – guess the best new artist curse bypassed them

    • The curse is mostly a thing in the late 1970s and early 1980s I think – you get A Taste of Honey, Starland Vocal Band, Debby Boone, Men at Work.

      • Of course sometimes a curse serves its purpose…. Starland Vocal Band????

        • Rickie Lee Jones is right in the middle of that cursed period and has had a pretty good career.

      • On a related note – saw the list of new nominees for this years – are you familiar with most of them. Im not at all which I’m not sure how I feel about it

        • I only really know 4 of them – I really like some songs off Olivia Rodrigo’s debut, Finneas is best-known for his work with his sister Billie Eilish. Arlo Parks is a pretty well reviewed artist I’ve been meaning to check out, and Japanese Breakfast is a very good indie guitar artist who’s been round for a while now. Seems pretty comparable to other years – just more nominees than there were before 2019.

11. Got 26/40 – damn, some of those are hard.

    • Yup, there was one I hadn’t heard of – fun.

      • I remember fun. They were big at the time for ‘We Are Young’ and ‘Some Nights’. One of the members was Jack Antonoff, which you’ve probably heard of him and his involvement’ in the pop scene.

        • Didn’t realise he had another band before The Bleachers.

12. 31 out of 40 for me. Oh well. And I get those emails all the time. Pure scam.

    • 31 is a pretty good score. It’s obviously a scam, but it’s so irrelevant that it’s kind of funny.

    • Good effort – you’ve had less time to accumulate musical knowledge than the other contestants.

16. 23/40 with 1:42 and pure guessing down the last while there. Clearly I don’t know my hit songs!
