Congratulations to Rich Kamerman, on the moon this week with a high score of 17/20 in the Today I Learned quiz.
This week you need to follow the lyrics in iconic 1960s songs. It should be pretty easy for most regular contestants – I’m anticipating a speed race.

I scored 25/25 with 4:22 remaining
Bonus question – who said this about their song in the quiz?
“it’s not one of my best. I mean I’ve got about 300 songs that I think are better”.
Who said this?

100%. 4:40 remaining. And, is that a John Lennon quote?
Perfect score, but not John Lennon.
Rats!
I have no idea how I had the best score last week. It must be because some of the regulars didn’t participate. FYI, I’m still not seeing your posts in my feed. For this week I got 25/25 but my tracking pad (no mouse here) speed was too slow so I had 3:38 left on the clock.
I can’t use those friggin’ things. I’m lost without a wireless mouse.
I definitely prefer using a mouse but I can at least function with a tracking pad…except when it comes to these quizzes.
Damn shame. I hate to see a competitor with a handicap. ?
Haha, well-played. And it’s extra funny because it’s a hand-icap.
Wordpress are sorting out the feeds now, so hopefully it’ll be good for next time. Apparently the old feeds were working but the new one I transferred everyone to wasn’t.
SCORE
25/25
That would be Van the Man on the quote I’m almost positive.
Yup, correct about the bonus question. Did you notice that another blogger has copied your blog post about Guadacanal Diary?
No I didn’t notice that.
I just did…they have done it one other time…thanks. A reference or re-blog would be nice.
Not cool
I just searched this up – what’s weird is that they lifted certain sentences from your second post about Gc to use in a post about Watsui Rodeo. Makes you wonder if the sentences that aren’t yours were lifted from other blogs. Sounds pretty lazy. Like everyone’s content is a giant Wikipedia entry to use without attribution. Like you said, would be nice to have an acknowledgement at least.
Yes that is all I ask.
25/25 but I have to admit I left the dormouse one until the end as it was the one I didn’t know.
I know the song but I forgot that line too.
Yes, me too. I just didn’t know the particular line.
The hookah smoking caterpillar is certainly more memorable.
25/25 w/ a minute left – damn some of them were difficult. I’ve seen the above answers that the quote is from Van Morrison but could easily be mistaken for a Lennon song.
Good effort – you’re a big younger than most of the other contestants. Morrison and Lennon are both pretty ornery.
25/25 with 3:40 left
Perfect score!
All these people with their perfect scores. I was pretty happy with my 20/25.
I’m sure you’ll do better at later decades.
Guess I don’t know my 60s lyrics as well as I thought – stinking it up with 15 of 25. Sporocle says I’ve died of dysentery, so that’s pleasant…..
That’s an Oregon Trail reference, right?
Huh? Sorry not following
It’s a famous computer game:

Ok I’ll take your word for it. Never a big gamer. ?
It’s like a quasi-educational game – we got to play it in social studies.
Hey I think I saw your new site in the Reader – I just signed up to follow you – follower 3 which is why I thought it was the new site. I’ll met you know if I start seeing it in my notifications.
I just had a look – that’s the old one, but you’re right, it is appearing in the reader. I’ve just raised it with Wordpress support and they’re sorting it now.
It’s 23/25 for me this week. 1:08 remaining… a lot of guess work based on rhymes after about a dozen or so.
The rhyming strategy is a good one.
24 – 19 were known, and a 5 out of 6 on my rhyming guesses!
Rhyming is definitely a good way to do it.
22/25 with 2:25 left. That was a lot of reading yet tring to make quick choices!
But you made it to 22, which is a strong showing.
Hey thanks! Slower readers would struggle on that one, though. The creator of it should have given more time, probably.
There’s another follow that lyric coming tomorrow.
I’m in!
25/25 with 1:08 left. Amazed I got them all.
Great work!
Thank you! At a certain point they were guesses but I guess right. The lyrics are so familiar but when you read them in a series like that it gets confusing.
Ray Davies?
Van Morrison! I’m not huge on Brown Eyed Girl so I agree with him.
I will make a guilty confession: aside from Brown Eyed Girl, I don’t much care for Van!
I don’t like a lot of his most-played radio songs, but he has some great deep cuts.
