Music Quiz: Parenthetical Asides

Last week’s US presidents quiz was a tight run thing, with both Jims joining me on 20/20 at 2:50, creating an historic three-way tie.

This week we’re looking at the parenthetical aside, as commonly utilised in 1980s song titles. There was no room for ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction’ or ‘So. Central Rain (I’m Sorry)’.

I scored 18/18 with 5:02 remaining. Can you beat my time and get them all correct?

Did you know that The Beach Boys are still banned from San Diego Zoo, after some bad behaviour during the photo shoot for the Pet Sounds cover (an album that featured the parenthetical song title ‘Don’t Talk (Put Your Head on My Shoulder)’)

  1. 18/18 with 5:11 remaining. Literally, the easiest one I’ve ever done, the first time I’ve ever known all the songs without some wild-assed guess.

  2. 15/18 – don’t know much about Hall and Oates, The Penguins and Sly and the Family Stone. I like the next article on that Beach Boys Zoo link about Paul McCartney eating celery for a song.
