Music Quiz: Scrambled 1990s Vocalists

Congratulations to Tony from Mumbling About… who scored full marks with the quickest time last week while eliminating his options.

This week’s challenge is double-pronged – you need to unscramble the anagram of a 1990s vocalist, then match it to the picture. Band names (when necessary) are in parentheses – so if you’re guessing Ira Kaplan (Yo La Tengo) the clue to unscramble could be “Air Planka (Oy Al Etong)“. The time’s tight, so it might be a good idea to familiarise yourself with the images before you click start.

I scored full marks, but I found it a pretty tough mental workload and only had 51 seconds remaining on the clock. Can you beat my time?

Graham Fyfe is probably the only music blogger to appreciate Neil Diamond and Ariana Grande.

  1. It took my mind a moment or two to shift into gear. And when it did – a measly 8 out of 16. Unscrambling words especially under that pressure is not my forte.

  2. I took your advice and identified them all before beginning (only had to look up Billy Joe Armstrong and guessed on Spice Girl through process of elimination) got all right with 28 seconds to spare. First time doing well on one of these quizzes! Yay!

  3. Not one I could do, I’m afraid, given that I only knew (or think I knew) eight of the artists from the pictures – Cobain, Martin x 2, Gallagher, Dogg, Armstrong, Adams and Carey. Oh dear.

  4. 8 of 16 – unscrambling even knowing some of the artists under the gun a bit too stressful. Plus as you know 90s not my era.
