Congratulations to Jim S. and Rich, who both scored 100% in last week’s Rock song quiz. Rich scored the fastest time, and I think it’s appropriate to quote a line from the Billy Joel album that he recently re-enacted the cover of.
Rich (Kamer)man, poor man, either way American
Billy Joel – Close to the Borderline
Shoved into the lost and found
This week’s challenge requires you to name famous musicians who have been featured on the cover of Rolling Stone.

I scored 29/40, which put me right on the Sporcle average for the quiz. As I’ve noted before, I’m never as good at visual quizzes, so I’m sure some of you will do a lot better.

Ha! 40/40, 3:50 remaining. There were four that I did not recognize, one of whom I did when I made the screen bigger. (A woman.) I guessed (sort of) at one of the rappers. And the last guy I got – I won’t say what genre – I took a stab in the dark. It helps that I subscribed to RS for years and plus, you really have to be somebody to get on that cover. It’s an elite circle.
Great work – everyone is thrashing me this week…
Don’t take it personally. 🙂
I got 38/40. I only missed two on the bottom row (a country singer and a rapper). No giveaways here!
Great work – you can kind of tell he’s a country singer by his hat…. Probably should have guessed that, he’s just not big in New Zealand at all.
Whew, that was exhausting, but I’m thrilled with my 40/40 score, leaving 4:30 on the clock…and I did them all in order without having to skip anyone. Guess my old RS subscription from the ’80s and ’90s was helpful. Could have been a bit faster if I didn’t make a few spelling errors that had to be corrected. Thanks for the shout-out to my Glass Houses post and the excellent “Kam” reference. Nicely done.
That’s a pretty fast time – great work!
38 for me this week. I recognised both that I didn’t get, but just couldn’t put a name to them.
38/40
TIMER
00:00
missed Garth Brooks and 50 cent
Ditto badfingerbads. Plus despite the number of times I tried, Dr Dre did not appear. 37/40 And if I’m honest I had to go look how to spell one surname as I knew it was her.
I forgot the U in Osbourne… kept typing in Osborne… finally it came to me.
I do the Googling surname thing sometimes. I always have trouble spelling “mellencamp”.
Great work!
40 out of 40 with 2:12 left on the clock. I am old so that helped.
Old is good for something in these contests.
Yes it is. And Senior Discounts!! It is good for that too!!
I wonder if there’s a 21st century edition…. Revenge of the (not so far away from their) Youth
And you’re also loud!
?
I thought I was doing well at 37/40 and then I saw all these other scores…
Everyone is trouncing me….
40/40, 4:43 remaining.
Ooh, might be fastest time this week so far.
40/40 with 4:22 on the clock. Phew
A reliably great effort.
I think that’ll go on my headstone
36/37! (I excused myself from the Rap category).
I don’t know if I’ll be giving you 36/37 = 97% in the final standings….
Whatevs. Probably won’t be standing then anyway.
38 of 40. I recognized Whitney but could recall name. I could have stared at Brooks for several weeks and never gotten that.
I thought you had a country phase? Good score though.
Touche! I’ve tried to put it behind me. 🙂
37!
I think that’s on the low end this week, but you flattened my score at least…
When I saw the 3 I missed, I could have had perfect – I don’t know if I’ve ever seen the fellow with a cowboy hat where he wasn’t clean shaven, the beard fooled me!
He’s just not big in NZ, so he’s not on my radar.
I was never all that aware of him until he did the alter ego experiment around the year 2000
