Congratulations to Tony (https://mumblingabout.com/), who headed off Rich and Chris for the highest score in a tough duets quiz last week.
This week’s quiz looks at female solo artists. Match the top 5 hit song to the female artist.
I scored 27/28, can you beat me and get full marks?

Ooh, very tough at the end. Got 24 with no problem but then stumbled with my guesses and ended up with 25/28. Well played with your 27. Will anyone top that? Only time will tell.
It’s an interesting mix of critically acclaimed artists (Aretha Franklin, Beyonce, Carly Rae Jepsen) and radio fodder. I knew a fair chunk of them, but guessed the last few Whitney Houston and Beyonce songs.
I had some suck-sess. 18/28. No clue on many of them. The snarky comment it gave me was, “You’re all about the average, aren’t you?” I guess so. Waah!
It’s more geared to my generation, I think – it’s mostly from the mid 1980s onwards, even Aretha Franklin’s songs include a couple from that era. I’d struggle if it included stuff like Doris Day and Peggy Lee.
See, those I would totally get! 🙂
Ha ha. I stopped when it looked like I’d come in under 10. Might go back and complete it to see how it slaps me down.
“OK, now that you are all warmed up, let’s do this for real!”
Let’s not.
I guess I’ve used two pretty poppy quizzes in a row – should do something different next week.
I’m constantly amazed how well some of your /our regulars (middle aged men, to a, ah, man) do on these diva sprinkled quizzes. I wouldn’t know a Beyonce or a Swift if they flew in my window.
A swift is similar to a swallow, but no idea what a beyonce bird is.
Also, I have small daughters, which probably helps.
A-Ha! You’re secret is out!
I like to think I’m not quite middle-aged – I don’t know what the definition is. I’m late thirties, which I think applies to a few others too.
Fair enough then. Appropriate knowledge for prime adults with female children!
Prime adults, I like that much better.
Nope. I wasn’t any good on this one.
No, I cannot.
Oooft. 17 for me.
Doesn’t seem like too bad a score this week.
13/28. I knew most of the Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey hits, the rest I managed only 1 or 2 songs
Yeah, I knew all the Mariah Carey stuff from the radio going up.
Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey , Miley Cyrus…. obviously I have an allergy to them as I pulled in with 25 with mostly guesses and feel the need to cleanse my mental jukebox now before I walk around the house humming Halo
An aural enema.
Mehhhh 22/28. I just don’t know the pop tarts. I got all the Aretha ones though, of course.
I thought Day Dreaming was pretty obscure actually. It was easily the least guessed in the stats.
25/28 for me. Not great, but not too bad.
I think that makes you first equal currently.
Cool. We will see if it holds.
